I'd like to wish everyone a happy Darwin Day. In 1809, on this day, 12th of February, Charles Darwin was born. His ground-breaking book On the Origin of Species both shook the world and contributed to our better understanding of it.

Happy Carl Sagan Day.
A very good bio on Sagan can be found here: Carl Sagan
As a part of my celebrations I like to put up holiday lights. Of course, I do not do religious symbols or icons or references. My thinking the holiday lights represent science shining a light into the darkness of the universe, scattering our doubts and diminishing our ignorance. Carl Sagan helped us, he introduced so many of us to science, and so gave so many of us that light of science.
Here is a video clip of Sagan's epic work Cosmos, enjoy. And have a very happy Carl Sagan Day.
